The theme of the camp will be Medical Humanities. Medical Humanities is defined by the U.S. National Library of Medicine as: “The study of the intersection of medicine and humanistic disciplines such as philosophy, religion, literature, and the fine and performing arts.” This topic was chosen to be the theme of the camp to get the future health professionals and leaders of Oman to understand how the health sector does not need individuals who are good in the health sciences only, but those who have a holistic understanding of also the humanistic disciplines and how they can be applied to the health care provided in Oman to support the country as it continues its journey to provide a good health system for the people of Oman.

 

 

Goals of TACO

  • Empower students with leadership qualities.

  • Establish a platform for sharing and discussing ideas between medical students in Oman and the world.

  • Collaboration between medical and non-medical students to discuss health-related issues to create a holistic approach to better health.

  • Create a multicultural environment that will establish diversity of perspectives.

  • Provide the students with a variety of skills.

  • Raise awareness of internationally significant medical issues.

  • Raise awareness about environmental issues and their effect on health.
