Cultural misconceptions about health (Day 1)

The Omani society is known for its rich heritage and culture but unfortunately, some aspects of the culture are based on misconceptions which some can have significant implications especially those with relation with health. This activity will basically focus on getting the future health professionals to assume their role to fight against such acts. This will be achieved by first identifying some of these cultural misconceptions then equipping the participants with the tools to perform their duty in the best way possible. The results of this activity will have a large impact on the society.

 

Tea party with the expert (Day 2)

This day will focus on arts, literature, ethics, music, psychology, film, history, and religion. For each of the mentioned topics we will have an expert guest. The guests will prepare a discussion session discussing their topic, its application to the health sciences and patient care. The participants will be given a chance to choose 3 sessions based on topics. Each session will last 25 minutes. In the end we will have a conclusion session for feedback and some questions from us that will be based on what they have benefited from the previous sessions. 

 

Recycle Plastic, Feel Fantastic (Day 4)

Let's have fun time making our environment safe and learn about other cultures and how do they keep their countries safe! Holland, Serbia, and Bahrain will meet us and will engage with us in making Oman greener and safer. This workshop is delivered by international trainers who are very passionate about the environment.

 

 

Let's talk (Day 5)

This accompanying event will get the participants to be seated in a café structured setup. Several topics and scenarios will be thrown to the audience to discuss with relation to philosophy, ethics, history and cultures. The whole aim of this activity is to create in them a sense of curiosity towards these aspects of humanities, and for them to share their opinions and knowledge. For this activity, some guests will be invited who have an interest in these topics who will add a professional flavour to the discussion.

 

People’s talk (Day 5)

Creating platform where youth will have the chance to share their ideas and experiences in an open talk in relation to medical humanities. This talk will be structured as a similar way to TED talks where different proffessional speakers will disucss different topics that are related to humanities in medicine and how they apply to real life.
